Quick Start Guide
Follow these steps to get your LLMS.txt file, add it to your website, and submit to generative search engines for optimal SEO & GEO benefits.
Step 1: Download Your LLMS.txt File
- Enter your email and website URL on the application page.
- Complete the payment process to access your custom LLMS.txt file.
- Download the file provided to you via email (usually take one hour for our system to build the file).
Step 2: Add the LLMS.txt File to Your Website
- Access your website’s root directory via FTP, cPanel, or your hosting provider’s file manager.
- Upload the downloaded LLMS.txt file directly to the root directory. The root directory is usually the main folder where your website’s files are stored (e.g.,
public_html
).
Step 3: Link to the LLMS.txt File
- Navigate to your website’s footer settings or theme editor.
- Add a link to the LLMS.txt file, using the URL format
yourdomain.com/llms.txt
. - Label the link appropriately, such as “LLMS.txt File” or “SEO Policy File,” for easy identification.
Step 5: Add the LLMS.txt File to Your XML and HTML Sitemaps
For better visibility and SEO performance, ensure that your LLMS.txt file is included in your website’s XML sitemap and HTML sitemap (if available). Most modern SEO plugins like Rank Math or Yoast SEO automatically include custom files in the XML sitemap. Verify that the LLMS.txt file entry is present in your sitemap by checking yourdomain.com/sitemap_index.xml. If you maintain an HTML sitemap, manually add a link to your LLMS.txt file with a descriptive label, making it accessible to both users and search engines.
Step 4: Submit Your LLMS.txt File to Google Search Console
- Log in to your Google Search Console account (or create one if you don’t have it).
- Select your website from the property list.
- Go to the “Sitemaps” section and click “Add a New Sitemap.”
- Enter the URL of your LLMS.txt file (e.g.,
yourdomain.com/llms.txt
) and click “Submit.” - Google will now process and verify the file for indexing.
